The highest-ROI channel you are not running

Moving Company SMS & Text Message Marketing

Texts get opened, almost immediately and almost always. In an industry where the customer is collecting three estimates and books the one that responds first, that makes SMS decisive rather than optional.

Why texting

Why SMS Outperforms Every Other Follow-Up Channel Here

Email gets ignored. Calls go to voicemail. Texts get read, usually within minutes. In a business where the customer is actively comparing three companies with a hard deadline, that difference decides who books the job.

Moving has five moments where texting changes the outcome:

The lead comes in. A quote request at 8:40pm gets an automated text at 8:41pm confirming receipt and asking one easy qualifying question. The customer, still on their phone, replies. You have started a conversation while your competitor's autoresponder promises a callback within one business day.

The estimate is pending. Most moving quotes are not lost, they are abandoned. The customer got three numbers, got busy, and went with whoever stayed present. A short sequence over the following week recovers a meaningful share of them.

The survey or estimate is scheduled. Reminder texts cut no-shows, and a no-show survey burns an estimator's afternoon.

Move day approaches. Confirmation, crew-en-route, and arrival window texts reduce anxiety in the most anxious purchase most people make all year, and they cut the volume of "where is my truck" calls to your office dramatically.

After the move. A review request sent by text within an hour of completion, while relief is peak, outperforms every other review generation method available to you.

What we build

The SMS Programs We Run

1

60-second speed to lead

Every form fill, ad lead, and missed call triggers an automated text within a minute, day or night. Frequently the highest-ROI thing we install in an entire engagement.

2

Missed-call text-back

The phone rings while your sales desk is on another line and the caller hangs up. An automatic text goes out immediately. Recovered inquiries that would have gone to the next mover on the list.

3

Quote follow-up sequences

Multi-touch, spread across the days after an estimate, each message adding something useful rather than just asking again. This is where abandoned moves get recovered.

4

Survey and move-day logistics

Estimate reminders, move-day confirmation, crew-en-route, and arrival windows. Fewer no-shows, calmer customers, far fewer inbound calls to your office.

5

Off-season and flexible-date offers

Texting your past-estimate list with midweek and mid-month availability fills truck days that would otherwise be empty.

6

Review requests by text

Sent within an hour of move completion. Text review requests substantially outperform email, and review velocity feeds your map rankings.

Do this right

Compliance Is Not Optional and Not Complicated

TCPA violations carry statutory damages per message, and class actions against service businesses are a real and active industry. Every program we build uses documented express written consent, clear opt-out handling on every message, quiet-hours enforcement, and proper 10DLC carrier registration so your messages get delivered instead of silently filtered.

The rules

How to Run Moving Company SMS Without Getting Sued

This is the part most agencies skip, and the part that can cost far more than the campaign earns.

  • Get real consent. Express written consent means the customer affirmatively agreed to receive texts, with clear disclosure, and you have a record of when and how. A pre-ticked checkbox is not consent. A phone number given for a quote is not automatically consent to marketing.
  • Separate transactional from marketing. A move-day confirmation for a booked job is a different legal category than a promotional offer. Structure consent and flows accordingly and do not blur them.
  • Honor opt-outs instantly and permanently. STOP means stop, across every campaign, immediately. Your platform should enforce it automatically and you should verify that it does.
  • Respect quiet hours. No marketing messages outside permitted hours in the recipient's time zone. Interstate movers are dealing with multiple time zones, and the strictest applicable rule governs.
  • Register for 10DLC. Carriers require brand and campaign registration for application-to-person messaging. Unregistered traffic gets filtered or blocked, and you will not necessarily be told.
  • Keep records. Consent logs, opt-out logs, and message history. If challenged, documentation is the entire defense.

We handle all of this as part of the build. It is not exciting, and it is the difference between a channel that prints money and a lawsuit.

Common questions

SMS Marketing, Answered

Is SMS marketing legal for moving companies?
Yes, with proper consent and compliance. The TCPA governs it, carriers require 10DLC registration, and some states add rules. The requirements are specific but entirely manageable, and we build every program to meet them. This is general information about how we operate, not legal advice; have your attorney review the program if you want certainty for your situation.
What is 10DLC and do I need it?
10DLC is the framework carriers use to register business text messaging on standard 10-digit numbers. If you send automated texts from a business number, you need to register your brand and campaigns. Without it carriers filter or block your traffic silently.
How fast should I respond to a moving lead?
Minutes, not hours. In an industry where the customer is collecting three estimates simultaneously, response speed is one of the strongest predictors of who books the job. Automating the first touch means you win that race even at 10pm on a Sunday.
Will customers find it annoying?
Move-day logistics texts are actively appreciated, because this is a stressful purchase and people want to know where their truck is. Promotional volume is where you can go wrong. We keep marketing frequency low and make every message either useful or genuinely valuable.
Can texting integrate with my moving CRM?
Yes. Two-way texting can flow into SmartMoving, MoveitPro, Supermove, or Elromco so conversations log against the customer record and your sales desk is not managing a separate inbox nobody watches.
